The boys were gleefully willing to do so, but the fact remains that these were not carrots, but death sticks from the planet Omnibus. Omnibus is full of intelligent aliens who, after an unfortunate corporate buyout, were forced to make death sticks for the measly price of 45 herrings, which, if you lived on Omnibus, would be measly. The town shrieked with grief as they had their buildings grow into giant caterpillars which would house the horrible monsters without legs. However, the real monsters were not the caterpillars, but the town for building over the ancient caterpillar breeding ground. All things considering, that’s how Percy became a eunuch.
